In order to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of their interventions and to reduce the associated transaction costs for the member states, the United Nations funds, programmes and specialized Agencies are striving to simplify and harmonize their various rules and procedures. The intent is to provide more coherent and effective support to governments and other partners based on a common development framework that is aligned with the global development agenda and national priorities and is owned and driven by the Government.
As part of this process, the UN development Agencies have streamlined procedures that govern their country programming process, with a set of new instruments for country programmes' development, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and reporting having been developed. < more >
