Purpose: UNICEF advocates for child rights through various communication activities. UNICEF is looking for an assistant to work support the UNICEF’s external relations and child rights promotion work. The assistant will perform, under the supervision of the Communications officer, a variety of information gathering, monitoring, technical and administrative services of moderate scope and difficulty, in support of communications activities.
Qualifications and competencies required:
- Secondary education required, university degree is an asset;
- At least three years of administrative experience;
- Experience working in the UN or other international development organisation is an asset;
- Fluency in Romanian, Russian, and English languages required.
- Good communication skills, writing and editing skills are an asset;
- Good knowledge of computer management and applications;
- Ability to work in an international and multicultural environment;
- Ability to work independently, under pressure and prioritize tasks.
Assignments:
- Follow up on the administrative and financial processes. Organizes data and information, prepares and maintains files and documents for the monitoring of project/programme implementation.
- Collects information from printed, electronic and online media and prepares periodic and ad hoc reports on the visibility impact of the programme and project activities.
- Contributes to the preparation of various reports by providing information, preparing tables and drafting relatively routine sections. Prepares background information for use in discussions.
- Carries out specific administrative and logistical tasks to support project/programme activities related to public events (media field trips, press conferences, visits from senior UNICEF officials and external partners, etc).
- Assists in updating the Country Office website in English and Romanian languages.
- Assists in the planning, logistic and administrative arrangements for visits of the media, donors, national committee representatives and other special interest groups.
- Follows up on the production of advocacy and communication materials (e.g., films, videos, audio-visuals, etc.), and oversees the qualitative aspects of production, (e.g., quality control, translations, reviews of layout and graphic design.
- Perform other duties, as required.
