Background

International Organization for Migration (IOM) mission to the Republic of Moldova is seeking
for National Consultant supporting the development and piloting of a Migration & Development student course, focusing on the Policy, Regulatory and Legal Framework

Purpose: The IOM will commission a National Consultant, who will support the development of a Migration & Development student course, focusing on specific thematic blocks, namely on the policy, regulatory and legal framework; and piloting of the thematic Migration & Development student course in an academic institution.

Assignments: TOR       

 1. Education:

  • Post-graduate degree in a development-related field – Social Sciences and/or Legal / Economic Sciences;
  • Complementary studies in international development will be an advantage;
  • Other formal education relevant for the assignment;

 2. Experience:

  • A minimum of 10 years of teaching experience in a Moldovan academic institution;
  • Proven experience in developing analytical works and in migration-related fields;
  • Substantive experience in Migration and Development policy issues;
  • Experience in working with international organizations and IOM and/or UN agencies in particular;
  • Demonstrated understanding of the international and regional law framework as relates to the social human rights of migrants;

 3. Competencies, skills and other requirements:

  • Strong analytical, writing and communication skills;
  • Strong knowledge of migration regulatory and legal framework at the national level required;
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to work with data and triangulate various types of information;
  • Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team;
  • Familiarity with IOM’s mandate;
  • Excellent oral and written command of English and Romanian;
  • Availability for the envisaged period and high mobility and flexibility.
