Background

International Organization for Migration (IOM) mission to the Republic of Moldova is seeking
for a National Consultant to support the comprehensive Mapping of Diaspora members originating from the Transnistria region (Russian Federation, EU member-states, Israel)

Purpose: The IOM will commission a National Consultant, who under the overall guidance of the Project Coordinator, will contribute to the improvement of the links between the both banks’ academic and research community, enhancing the capacity of the Transnistrian academic and research community, policy makers and local authorities to collect, analyse, disseminate and use data required for an efficient formulation, implementation and monitoring of policies for minimization of the negative social costs of migration and enhancing the development potential of migration.

Assignments: TOR       

  1. Education:
  • Advanced degree in sociology or demography or related areas relevant for the assignment;
  • Complementary studies in economics and/or statistics will be an advantage;
  • Other formal education relevant for the assignment;

     2. Experience:

  • At least 5 years of proven experience preferably in social research areas;
  • Proven experience in developing analytical works in migration related fields would be an asset;
  • Previous experience in conducting international research;
  • Experience in working with international organizations and UN agencies in particular;

      3. Competencies and Skills:

  • Strong analytical, writing and communication skills;
  • Good knowledge of the migration & development concept and diaspora as well as remittances themes;
  • Familiarity with IOM’s mandate;
  • Familiarity with European/international standards and best practices would be an asset;
  • Good command of oral and written English;
