Background

Scope of work:

The main purpose of the assignment is to manage the implementation of the Project “Speak Up for Youth Sexual and Reproductive Rights”, co-financed by UNFPA Moldova and the Netherlands Ministry for Development Cooperation.

In coordination with UNFPA staff, the National Consultant on Youth and Education for Health will effectively support routine implementation of the “Speak Up for Youth Sexual and Reproductive Rights” Project, by:

  • Developing project work plans and procurement plans, as well as detailed budget, based on expected 2017 year-end project results;
  • Facilitating the work of Project Implementing Partners and national and international experts, providing technical and programmatic support;
  • Providing logistical support in the context of Project implementation (planning and organising experts’ missions, trainings, consultations,  advocacy meetings, other project related activities;  ensuring development of required  documents for contracting needed services etc);
  • Providing inputs and assistance in the framework of monitoring of project activities  (by participating in field visits, ensuring that relevant data is regularly generated and key indicators are available to monitor the progress; developing and presenting project-related progress reports);
  • Providing support by compiling and synthesizing relevant background materials, drafting information notes, speeches and presentations for delivery via meetings, public events and in other fora;
  • Contributing to creation and sharing of knowledge, by synthesizing and documenting findings, success stories, best practices and lessons learned within the implemented project, to share with colleagues and partners, at the local and national levels; contributing to the wide dissemination and visibility of project achievements;
  • Perform other duties as required.

Requirements for Experience and Qualifications:

  • Master degree or equivalent in education, public health, health education and promotion, social science, and/or other related areas.
  • Prior relevant professional experience in the field of programme/ project management in education, health and/or youth areas would be desirable;
  • Prior experience of working with UN Agencies, multilateral and bilateral donor agencies, government institutions or NGOs, would be an asset.
  • Fluency in English and Romanian (both oral and written) is required.
  • Working knowledge of one or more additional languages relevant for Moldova, including Russian, Bulgarian, Gagauzian, Romani, Ukrainian or sign language would be an asset.
  • Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc.) and advance knowledge of spreadsheet and database packages, experience in handling of web based management systems is required.
