Background

National Consultant to complete assessment questionnaire

in the field of cervical cancer prevention in the Republic of Moldova


 

Background:

In 2014, UNFPA EECARO initiates the exercise, which will consolidate and analyse the data on the capacity development needs of the countries in Eastern Europe and Central Asia Region in the area of Cervical Cancer prevention; the outcome of the exercise will be the report with country and regional analyses and concrete recommendations on the specific priority areas for UNFPA Country Offices and the Regional Office support. The outcomes of the initiative will contribute to the evidence based policy dialogue at the country and regional levels; it will facilitate the process of synchronization and efficient planning of the cervical cancer prevention activities at country and regional levels.

Objective:

The objective of this consultancy is to provide support to Regional initiative from national level; particularly, to assist the International Consultant in conducting the assessment of capacities for Cervical Cancer prevention in EECA countries and developing a comprehensive report by providing required information and data from the Republic of Moldova. 

Deliverables of the Consultancy

The deliverables of this consultancy are the following:

  • To gather the information required for the national questionnaire developed by the International Consultant aimed at the assessment of national policies and capacities in the field of Cervical Cancer Prevention in the Republic of Moldova

  • Based on the guidance received from the International Consultant, to complete the national questionnaire and to submit it for the review of the International Consultant by September 12, 2014.

  • To maintain close communication with the International Consultant and gather additional information upon the request from the International Consultant which comes to serve the purpose of the assessment in question

  • In addition to International Consultant, the National Expert will work with the respective UNFPA CO Assistant Representative or SRH Focal Point, EECA RO SRH Advisor and other RO respective staff, involved in the initiative.

    Required qualifications and experience:

  • Academic degree in medicine, public health,

  • At least 5 years of work experience in public health, preferably in cancer prevention/related field

  • Good knowledge of health system, operational and policy environment in the country; knowledge of the existing policies and services in the field of Cervical Cancer would be an asset;

  • Strong ability to work with health data; regular access to national health data depositories is required

  • Good communication and computer skills

  • Good command of English

  • An understanding of and ability to abide by the values of the United Nations and the UNFPA mandate
