Background

UNICEF Moldova is seeking a dedicated:

Programme Assistant in Communication Unit, GS-5, Fixed Term Appointment

Purpose: Under the close supervision and guidance of the Communication Officer, the Programme Assistant supports the respective section through providing a range of procedural, administrative, operational support in developing, implementing, executing and monitoring their country programme, ensuring timely and effective delivery that is consistent with UNICEF rules and regulations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assists in the production of advocacy and communication materials (films, videos, audio-visual materials, materials for web-page, social media etc.) and oversees the qualitative aspects of production (quality control, translations, reviews of layout and graphic design).
  • Assists in developing and maintaining close collaboration with the mass media as well as with groups and organisations that support the achievement of UNICEF’s advocacy and communication objectives and activities. Helps organize and oversee logistics of UNICEF communication events.
  • Participates in monitoring of implementation, collects information from records and reports, and prepares periodic and ad hoc reports on programme and project activities.  Organizes data and information, prepares and maintains records, files and work plans for the monitoring of project/programme implementation.
  • Works collaboratively with the Executive Assistant to the Representative, taking on key responsibilities of scheduling, correspondence and record keeping during Executive Assistant absence and enabling Executive Assistant to take on communications unit programme assistance role as needed.
  • Monitors budgets and financial expenditure of the unit, ensuring compliance with UNICEF rules and regulations, keeping supervisor informed and advised on actions for decision/follow up.
  • Performs other duties, as required. 

QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES:

Education: Completion of secondary education, preferably supplemented by technical or university courses in a field related to the work of the organization.

Work Experience: Five years of work experience, including proven experience in organising events, interacting with media, working with web-based communications, responsible administrative or clerical work experience.

Languages: Fluency in English, Romanian and Russian, both oral and written.
